Struggled badly recently, hence the lack of posts. I've been playing quite a bit live at the Luton G-Casino, but since the decent start it's been a nightmare! Last week summed it up when I had a go at an omaha one, called a big raise with 78910, flop 887, perfect. Bet out, pushed, obv call, and person wiht aces hit his remaining one on the turn (someone else passed the other) Nice one outer which crippled me instead of getting a 20k stack, cheers.

Will keep trying and probably post another update when I start to run well again :D

As promised, here are some photos of my little princess. I still can't believe how cute she is :D

As you can see she is already very cultured, an Independent reader at the age of two months!

What's that, I here you say? More photos? Okay...

I especially love the way she will pounce on me for hours before falling asleep on the spot :D I actually feel a little guilty in that I'm going to have to leave her for an entire day when I got to see Arsenal in Marseille next month! I'll leave plenty of food, hope she will forgive me. We are so poor at the moment it may well be the last match I go to for a while.

Last Saturday I went to the G-Casino at Luton for the first time, to play in a £30 freezout. I started at 8pm..and finished at about 3.30am Sunday morning when exiting in 5th from an original 45. £65 profit not too bad for a first attempt I guess, even if getting in at nearly half past four in the morning was a bit tiring! Rest assured I'll be going back there again soon.

I played pretty well overall, a bit nitty in places maybe. I was crippled 7 handed when my AQ got rivered with A10, seems every time I play live I get donked! Still, I intend to play live a lot more to (hopefully!) even out the variance.

She is absolutely adorable :D Picked her up a week ago from a rescue centre in Bordon, Hampshire (it doubles as a pet hotel). Didn't realise it was so far away (almost an hour) and she mewed all the way back!

She's settled in fine, was using the litter tray the following day and is the liveliest thing you could imagine! Tears around the place at top speed, pounces on everything, and climbs without any problem (apart from on the way down lol)

I took her back in a pet carrier with an Arsenal towel, maybe that was the reason for the fuss! It doesn't seem to have scarred here fortunately.

A few days ago I put her into her bed with the blanket, before going back to mine. 30 seconds later she was scratching my bed. So I switched the light off first before putting her back, to see if she'd get the hint. Very soon after she leapt onto my bed in the dark, and started purring in my ear. I'm afraid I gave in to this blatant display of emotional blackmail, gave her a stroke, and she cuddled up next to me and fell asleep!

When I registered her at the vets, I was asked what she is being fed. "Tesco kitten food and Whiskas kitten biscuits" (It was all they had!) I replied. "That's okay, isn't it?" "Um, well it's okay, but we recommend you use Royal Canin to help her grow properly" Anyway, I get my free kitten pack, which has some free samples of the said food. I put some of it on her plate...and she won't touch it. That settles that then!

She's getting her first injection tomorrow, fortunately the vet is just down the road, as she clearly does not enjoy the car journey!

I will try and get some photos up for the next post, if I can sort out how to upload them from my new camera phone (you can guess why I finally bought it!)

August review...and cat update!

Plans for tomorrow evening have just had to be put on hold...had decided to visit the g-casino in Luton for the £30 freezout following last weeks misfortune (see previous post).

However, I have just been phoned by a rescue centre letting me know there is a 7 week old black and white female kitten available! So, off I go to Holywater early tomorrow morning to have a look and see if I fall in love with it. I think there is a pretty good chance I will tbh :D Was quite a bit younger than I was expecting but there you go. Having to do a bit of tidying up as a result!

I gave Arsenal's transfer window signing a mark of 7.5/10. Mertesacker in particular looks a huge improvement, but leaving it so late has really annoyed me, and the fact that it took our biggest defeat in over a century to force Wenger into action is really poor. Hoping for the best, but time will tell.

Rounds off a perfect weekend where Chalfont fail to turn up for the second half and get beaten 4-1 after an even first half..oh, and then I drive 80 miles to Nottingham to be donked in the £30 freezout when my QQ gets rivered by A10 for the lead with 16 left from 120, I would have had well over 300k with blinds 4/8, next hand I'm out when my 9s fail to hold up against AQ and AJ. First prize was over £1200.

Total bullshit.

The manager seems to have lost the plot, other clubs manage to buy the players they need before the season starts, are we unique? Unless he is a complete idiot he must have known Fab and Nasri were going, why were the replacements not already bought? I hear that Kronke insisted on the sale of Nasri rather than risk him walk out for nothing in a year - now whether you think this is sensible or not do we really want the owner dictating transfer policy to the manager? Where does that end?

I would normally have gone to Udinese, but I can't really justify spending £500+ on an overnight trip (here's a clue to why you still have tickets available, guys, in the middle of a big spending squeeze for millions of people, almost doubling the cost of going by making it a two day trip rather than one really is stupid!) when I am so disillusioned with them and their actions :(

And as if that wasn't bad enough, ripped off by Barca getting one of the best players in the world at less than half his value, because of our useless chairman not being decisive, ripped off by yet another crooked ref who thinks a slap constitutes violent conduct but grabbing someone around the neck doesnt, ripped off by a crooked fa who only seem to exist to look at our conduct and ignore every other club, and ripped off by a crooked uefa who make up their rules as they go along. Fuck off the entire lot of you, bunch of scum.

PS, please, please please, can someone break Bartonscum's leg permanently, and get this vile, talentless thug out of our game once and for all. Please. 2010/11 season preview.

The wait is over...

Premier League. No really stand out bets in the outrights tbh. I think United are about right as are Chelsea. City and Liverpool are far too short, and as for Spurs, lol. Hang on a minute, that has to mean one team must be underpriced. So despite many misgivings, I advise a token 1 point bet on Arsenal at 10-1 with Corals or Hills. Fingers crossed that Ramsey and Wilshere run the midfield following the inevitable departure of Fab.

Other bets: Robin Van Persie to be top scorer. If he stays fit, he wins, if he misses a few games, he probably wins, if he misses several games, he goes close. 3 points to win at 9/1 generally.

Arsenal to finish top 4, 5 points win at 4/5 with VC, I see this more of a 1/3 shot, as it's effectively a match bet to finish ahead of Liverpool.

Championship. 2 points ew on Middlesborough at 18-1 (Hills). Completely friendless in the betting, finished like a train last season and under Mowbray they have to be there or thereabouts. I also advise a 1 point saver on West Ham at 5/1 with Hills as they won't be far away. I can't have Leicester at all and they are ludicrously short, everyone expects all of their new players to gell straight away, I can't see it happening.

League 1. 2 points ew on Sheffield United at 10-1 (Hills). Slightly unfortunate to go down, they retain a decent number of the side from last year, and Danny Wilson is experienced enough to know what is required to get back at the first attempt.

League 2. 5 points ew on Plymouth Argyle at 28/1 (Hills). I make this as one of the best bets I've ever seen. They only went down due to the points deduction and have kept a decent number of the side, as well as some talented youngsters and have made a few notable signings. The other big plus is Peter Reid, who undoubtedly could have got a job at a much higher ranked club, the fact he chose to stay despite the finnacial chaos speaks volumes. A narrow 1-0 defeat to a first choice QPR side was a very encouraging display in pre season, and to be perfectly honest, the odds are ludicrous. Pile in now!

And just for good measure we will try a 1 point win acca on all 4 at 66,670-1 (Hills). Just £15 could make you a millionaire in 9 months. That has to be worth a go, doesn't it? :D

I have also been told by a shrewd source that Cambridge United will have a good season in the Blue Square Premier. 33/1 if you want an ew tickle. (Nothing to do with me if it goes pear shaped, if it does well, I told you so :P)

Opinions welcome. (Still waiting for the Evo Stik South Division One Central to be priced up :D) Hopefully that will happen soon...if not we will have to make do with the match odds.

Made a stupid mistake on the wsop main event field size when not taking an arb, but just laying one half of it on betfair. Which needless to say cost me badly.

Almost all the poker loss was down to playing the forum game at DTD Nottingham, very nice place, would like to go back there again, may get an account there and try to qualify for a big event. Speaking of which, I am taking a real break from online poker (besides the pca fpp qualifiers) My balance on stars is zero, and it's going to stay like that for a while I think until I get some enthusiasm back.

I got through to round 6 (12,000 fpp) of the PCA, another 4 more wins, and the Bahamas here I come. Well, you can dream can't you :D I note all of the remaining rounds are on 28th August, and like the previous ones approximately 1 in 3 advances each time. I really like that structure, what I am not so keen about is the fact that all bar the final one (321,000 fpps) are turbos with only 1000 starting stack, leaving very little room for play. (Probably a good thing I hear you say ;) )Am I hoping for too much to ask for the poker gods to be with me on just one single day this month?

I've also had another go at qualifying for round 6 again to see if I can build an fpp stack.

Going to do the (eagerly awaited) pre season footy preview on Wednesday, anyone who has followed it the last couple of years should be nicely in profit with almost every selection coming in the top 3, yes, except Arsenal :(

Struggling to get anything going....

I am sure you know the feeling, no matter what you do, it goes pear shaped. Tried a few small football trades on betfair, no good. I even find arbs with betdaq, and before I can lay them off the goal goes in at the wrong time.

Poker is even worse, the run on stars was so horrific after losing something like 7 80/20 all ins in a row I withdrew the rest and tried to get somewhere from the remaining fpps, needless to say the same thing happened. So with the princely sum of $0.07 and 14 fpps, there was only one course of action. Yep, have a go at qualifying for the PCA :D

All I could do was start at Round 1 (5 fpp rebuy) with not enough for the add on! Got through that, and also scraped through Round 2. Round 3 (500 fpps) is at 5.00 Sunday afternoon and Round 4 an hour later should it be needed. From memory I got to round 6 last year after starting from the same level, so quite a bit of luck is needed to go all the way (8-10 in total?), but boy I am seriously overdue some...

Still no news from FT, I think the main hearing is in a weeks time, but do I really want to keep playing there after they have been run so badly? I haven't had a single email explaining what is happening since they went down, now that is shocking, and I used to praise their excellent customer service. :(

Any recommendations for a new site? I'm thinking Ladbrokes...any advice appreciated.

Looking forward to the start of the football season, well for Chalfont at least. Home draws in FA Cup and Trophy should give a good chance of progression I hope. Arsenal look as if they are trying to hold on to Nasri and Fab, but the market on betfair would still suggest Fab at least is going :(

The End for Full Tilt?

Will be gutted if it's true, not just because of the $60 odd I have left there (withdrawn just about everything I had, fortunately, not so long ago I had 2-3K!) but it was where I had such a decent run on the low stake plos. I guess the writing was on the wall when they did not let the americans withdraw unlike stars, I am guessing they simply did not have the money to do so! Hence they were in breach of their licence, which was why the Alderney Gambling Control Commission (AGCC) were (sadly) correct to pull the plug prior to the main hearing at the end of July. There are rumours of them trying to get another licence in another juristriction, but seriously, how many people would risk depositing to a company who (at best) has been appallingly run and who have consistently given excuses for their lack of action. At worst, they have acted in a manner which could be described as fraudulent, allowing non americans to continue to deposit whilst not segregating the funds in seperate accounts (unlike stars).

By reading the thread on two plus two, there is someone with a friend who has just over $400k, yep, you did read that correctly, and plenty more with 5 and 6 figure sums. Worrying times indeed! Apparently, he was told that he could withdraw a maximum of $2.5k a week, which when you have several hundred thousand is clearly going to take ages, even though he was removing the most he could since Black Friday. I am also sure that the staff were watching VERY closely for chip dumping as it would be obvious that people may try to attempt it to get money off the site.

You would think that with so many customers and such a solid cash flow they would be able to organize something...but clearly the lack of trust is the big stumbling point unless there is a big cash injection sufficient to pay everyone their balance. And that would take very deep pockets..unless I win the Euromillions tonight it won't be me I'm afraid...

It will be interesting how this will effect the Main Event Field size, surely nobody will turn up representing a site which could be bust and holding hundreds of millions of players money - they would get all manner of stick, wouldn't they?

Looking forward to the start of the new season as far as Chalfont are concerned. As for Arsenal, well, who knows, unhappy times sadly :( Just got my Travel Club Renewal thanking me for going to the away matches, I was considering going to the CL qualifier depending on where it is, now I just don't know :( Europa League anyone?

Not much to report on the poker, had a shot at the first ever saturday Omaha, came 37th of 1550, was only in it due to the free ticket if you failed to cash! Bit annoying to play for 5 hours, and only get a minor cash when first was $12k. If I've said it once, I've said it many times, the payout structures are ridiculous and the main reason why I hardly play any tourneys there.

Having run horrifically for well over 1000 games for two months I had been wondering if there was any more to it than that...hmmm! Maybe just a coincedence, but it's been going MUCH better since about 20th May (hastily touches a wooden object!). I wonder...

In case you are wondering, my credit was the princely sum of $1.84. Which I'm not exactly going to get rich on...but it is very nice to know that the site take the integrity of the games so seriously. When players are talking in a foreign language a moderator will appear within 20 seconds or so to stop them.

Other sites could learn a great deal from the top quality customer service displayed by them to all customers, large or small. I even remember a few months ago when I emailed them a couple of times about some query (I can't even remember exactly what it was about!) when I hadn't played for a year or two. Made no difference, I got the same prompt, courteous service that you would expect. I've done so several times since on a variety of matters since I started playing the fifty50s seriously, and they have always been excellent. On a couple of them I even got asked to complete a customer service survey which I got some FPPs for!

Long may it continue!

Desire Petroleum (closing price 12.75p) This is the sort of company where you want to buy them, forget about them, and check in a years time, where the company could have gone under or be worth a shedload. They are exploring for oil around the Falklands, have hit several blanks when drilling so far, and really need more capital to continue. Latest news is here

What next for Arsenal?

Any other supporter concerned for next season? I am. They usually end the season playing well and giving hope for the next one, but quite the opposite has happened this time :( With two months left everything was going fine, but it collapsed in alarming fashion to the extent that they suffered the humiliation of finishing behind Man City. Fortunately I managed to lay off my ew accumulator with Paddies by laying them for a top 3 place to secure a decent profit. However another two accas I had which had them in the top 2 missed out, with the result that I lost out on over 3 grand, to add to the 7.5 which happened last season :( :( :( 2nd last season and this season, and I'm five figures better off, pretty depressing stuff for a supporter, isn't it?

A work colleague asked me if I was only doing them because I support them. I can see where he is coming from, but I honestly do bets when I see value, and I simply couldn't make them a 7/1 chance at the start. I'm guessing I was proved right as they traded at 7/4, but then again you coud argue that their final position made their pre season odds about right?! A case that can be made either way I think. Also, I had one of my biggest wins of the season when they played Barca at home, and pretty sure I would have had another had it not been for the scandalous sending off at the Nou Camp.

I may change my approach for next season, at the very least I will do an ew acca or two which doesnt include the premiership. It's pretty gutting to pick teams to finish in the top 3 of the other leagues for two years running (most of them at double figure prices!) only to be let down by the club I support :(

I might have to give poker a complete break at the end of this month, I can't stop running horrifically on stars in the 50fiftys and there seems no end in sight.

Brighter news, Chalfont were confirmed as being promoted to the Southern League Division One Central, loads of local derbys including Uxbridge, which is literally a couple of miles up the road and much quicker to get to than a home game :D

Well, I started playing the $10 fifty50s...and ran even worse, I was over $100 in the first 3 or so days after only playing 66! So I dropped back down to the $5s, got half of it back before...you've got it, things got even worse still. I am honestly at my wits end to know how to get through this, I must be near $1k down at EV since my downswing over a month ago. It surely can't keep going I tell myself..but it does. Sigh. I am also down 1 mouse which reacted badly to being thrown against the wall!

I snap called this and it wasn't even close. Slightly better news on the betting, Wycombe's win on Saturday gave them third and I remembered that one of my ew accas was done with Paddy Power, who pay top 3 in the Premiership! So realizing that Arsenal may well blow third place, I laid them off (I've done most of it and will do the rest before Man City v Spurs tomorrow) to guarantee myself a grand either way. I am working on next year's one now. Okay I tell a lie, I've already pretty much made my mind up on it, but you'll have to wait for next season's preview to see what it is :D

Chalfont won the cup to make it a double for the first time in their 85 year history, super stuff, really chuffed. Roll on next season, although I was planning on going to the Southern League AGM where we should be inaugurated I have found out that it will be in Torquay..so maybe not!

What a nightmare. As mentioned in the previous post I have had a horrendous month on the fifty50s. Despite playing nearly 1000, I am somehow down even including bonuses! Over what period is it possible to run badly, is this normal? Sod it, I'm going to try the $10 ones anyway!

Sport has been no better, lost out on Nasri to win player of the year, I guess I could have laid off bits although the betfair liquidity was never really good :( It will be worse next month as I will include the ante post bets, which just like last year it looks to have cost me a packet by Arsenal not being in the top two :( Next season I will have to do one without them.

Speaking of which, I saw them against Man United today, they looked much better, maybe this was the future without Fabregas? Great to see Ramsay get the winner in his first home game back after the injury. And Arshavin running back and making important tackles, did I dream it?!?! Makes it all the more annoying as they should not just be top, but have already won the league :( :(

On the bright side, Chalfont ended with what could well be a record Premier Division total of 103 points, and we have a chance to get the double with a cup final win on Tuesday. I wore the shirt with pride today, and outside the Emirates someone asked about it and offered his congratulations, his mate is a Berkhamsted fan who have gone up from Divison One this year with even more points than we got! Best wishes to them also.

This was more enjoying than Arsenal winning the league tbh, grass roots football at it's best. I literally shuddered at the Real Madrid v Barca semi final last week. One of the worst games of football ever, both sides a disgrace to the game setting out to cheat from the start. Yes of course all sides have players that do it, (Eboue may know to whom I refer) but I have never seen a game where both teams had a single plan to dive, feign injury, and con the ref from the word go. Players carried off on stretchers only to run back on shortly after, running into others backs before going down clutching their face in agony, what a joke!

I would have liked to see bookings aplenty until 3 players were sent of from both sides to see if they got the message. I did laugh at Mourinho and his conspiracy theories, and even the fact that RM put the video on their website, showing the referees mistakes. Well all I can say is Arsenal could have produced one just about every week for the last two months.

Chelsea v Spurs again proved my point that there are corrupt officials in the premiership, it's starting to turn the game into a lottery. This is why I enjoy the non league game more!

I've literally ran as bad as it is to run in those fifty50s, at the time of writing I am down by just under $20 including bonuses after playing 692 of them! Thank goodness I don't have one of those tracking things that gives you your expected EV, I am pretty certain I am at least $500 down :(

Had two goes at the $2 2 seat gtd wsop qualifier on ft (used to be $1 5 seats gtd before the Americans got the boot, but I am sure I saw one in it, not sure how!), ended 364th and 281st out of 7970. The 2nd one saw me typically run KK into a suited ace rag in a 50k pot, well it was never going to hold up, was it?

Hope you are faring better than me. I will post the following picture to cheer myself after Arsenal fecked it up (The t-shirt is being ordered tommorrow :D)

The sports loss was annoying, especially as it would have been a decent profit had it not been for Arsenal being cheated at the Nou Camp. Speaking of which, I am even less bothered about the national side than I was previously. Sure it's nice to see the likes of Wiltshere doing well, but going back a week I was disgusted to see the game against Wales kicking off at 3.00pm. In case you were unaware, it is a Premier League rule that no game in the top flight can be shown live on TV (well legally anyway!) to ensure that lower league sides do not have their attendances affected. So why could that game not start at 5.00 pm? Why should loads of smaller clubs have to rearrange their games to avoid clashing? Would the TV audience be less if it was put on a couple of hours later? Hardly. Oh, and in their infinite wisdom, the highlights were not available on terrestrial as normal. Did none of the players think "Hang on a minute, it's our national sport and the only way you can view any of the game, never mind live coverage, is on Sky - what the hell is going on at the FA??

So I really couldn't give a stuff about the result, I couldn't even tell you who scored tbh. I doubt I'm the only one. The only thing I hope for at international week is for no Arsenal player to be injured (well other than Van Persie, it almost seems to be a given that he will be :( )

Chalfont have a 13 point lead with 7 games to go, surely we can't blow it from here? Hope not, but you never know! We have conceeded a huge 1 goal in the last 8 games, although our goals have dried up since our top midfielder was injured (he should be back for the next one hopefully), so have the ones going in at the other end! A maximum of 3 more wins will do the job, and tbh, having watched them for over 20 years, it will be more enjoyable watching them win the league than Arsenal, although naturally I'd like both!

I ended up playing 1000 of the $5 + $0.24 fifty/50 sngs, ended up with an ROI of just under 7%, or 7.9% if you include bonuses, not a disaster by any stretch, but less than what I was looking for as it was hovering around 10 for most of the month before a nightmare week saw me literally dozens of buy ins below ev. I'm going to give them another month at that level before deciding on moving up to the $10s. I will also play a few more tournaments on FT for a bit of variety, I've got enough Iron man medals and points for 3 $26 tickets as well as the cash still in there.

Well, as mentioned previously I decided to invest part of the staking money won on the 50/50s in an attempt to see if I could do likewise by myself! After a horrific few days which saw me almost return to my starting point by losing almost every all in be it flip, 70/30, 40/60, or just about everything else, I was on the verge of quitting and going back to FT! Then came an amazing two days where I literally couldn't miss, my 2% roi went back to 10%, and I was a lot happier. Highlight was pushing the monster that is 32o utg on the bubble and running into 99, flop 2, river 3, ty, gg.

I've played 550 of the $5 +$0.24 games, and, including bonuses am a bit over $300 up after paying $142 in rake. I even deposited another $300 to get a 25% deposit bonus on the basis that if I was going to play a load anyway I might as well get credit for it! As also mentioned it works out around 27% rakeback even if it only lasts for a month, I will try and get the full $75 (it will be quite a bit easier now I have Silver status as you get a 1.5 multiplier) Whilst starting off just playing one or two, I can now manage 6 at once without any difficulty. More than that, I would have to get another monitor to prevent overlap! Can worry about this in future.

Speaking of rakeback, one of the reasons I was reluctant to play much was the lack of it, but having thought about it, I'm actually better off than with FT. The low stakes plo8 turbo games I was playing there were $6 + $0.50, ie 8.3% rake or 6.1% after rakeback. Bizarrely the next level up was actually $11 + $1, i.e 9.1% rake or 6.6% after rakeback! However on stars the games are $5 + $0.24, ie 4.8% even with zero bonuses! And the next level up is identical, $10 + $0.48. So I will stick here for a bit and see how it goes. Although I probably have enough of a roll already to try the $10 games, I will stay with the $5s until I have played 1000, which should give me a decent number to make a judgement on.

Oh btw, that deposit gave me a $5 ticket for a home games tryout, which has to be used in the next couple of weeks, so anyone who is interested, let me know, be a shame to waste it!

I'm betting much less on football now, it's really getting tougher to beat the prices, and official decisions are making more and more games into a lottery, unless of course you are in the know. It seems to be easier and more rewarding to grind on a poker site! And what with the state of the economy and no-one sure if we are about to go back into recession, it makes sense to get another source of income (I work for the english branch of a Japanese company), we are not sure how badly we will be affected yet, time will tell. Speaking of which, my heart goes out to all the relatives and friends of the victims there. Puts moaning about betting and football into perspective, doesn't it?

Chalfont are still 10 points clear with 10 matches left, although our scoring ratio has plummeted, so have the number we are shipping! One in the last 6 games, if Mr Wenger wants to put in a bid for a couple of our defenders I'm sure we could sort something out...

I've worked out that the overpayments I have made to date are already saving me about £15 per month in interest on my mortgage, or it's the equivalent of getting 6% in a bank, or about 8% before tax! In other words it's worthwhile :D

Just what you need, to tie up your cash for nearly 2 years on a 1/999 chance with some mickey mouse outfit who nobody has ever heard of. Or back a 55/1 chance which it is physically impossible to collect on.

What could possibly go wrong?!?!

I am still seething about that crook of a ref cheating Arsenal at the Nou Camp with the sending off. I'd backed 1-1 pre match, laid Barca at 1.09 in running for a load, and asked a friend to green up if it got to 70 mins at level. Odd how whenever Barca are in trouble they get an official to give a dreadful decision to help them out (Chelsea springs instantly to mind). Ignore the stats about them having most of the possession (like that was never going to happen) or that Arsenal never had a shot, the facts were that for the first 55 minutes they comfortably restricted them to a couple of chances, the only goal conceeded was as a result of an unforced error, and within a few minutes of restart they applied some pressure and got an equalizer straight away.

What is truly unreal is that a load of people claim the sending off made no difference because RVP never had a shot in the first half. I see, so the fact that the odds on Barca qualify went from about evens to 2/5 as a direct result is just a coincedence, is it?!? And I supposed having Bendtner on the end of that sitter 3 minutes from the end didn't change anything either, wtf??? Actually it isn't unreal, because most pundits and people on the forum are clueless imbeciles when it comes to football and betting.

Speaking of which, yet more outages on Betfair, and what do they offer as a result? A few commission free markets. Yippee. What an absolute joke these bunch of twats are, hopefully their share price continues to crash and people who were stupid enough to buy their vastly overpriced shares will lose a packet as this seems like the only language they understand. Their customers do not matter one jot it seems.

And speaking of Arsenal, I'm naturally disappointed about the recent defeats, but tbh, this was the point I made on the forum:

"Bar two match winning performances by the respective keepers and an abysmal ref decision, we'd have one trophy, be odds on for another, and in the last 8 of the CL. Such small margins between success and failure"

I stand by that. And that isn't even including the latest scandalous reffing decisions that cheated us out of two points in the sunderland game. The facts are that if we and man united had correct decisions all season, we'd be at least 6 points clear and everything would look rosy. Oh, and on the subject of bent refs, did anyone spot Scholes commit another two awful tackles at the end of the game and get away with just a booking? Has this ever happened before? Only on several dozen occasions.

I'm trying the $5 50/50s on stars, but running uberbad as per just about always on this site(about 2% roi at last count!) it really defies belief how bad so many players are at this level, but I still struggle to beat them. Sigh. I tried despositing $300 to take advantage of a 25% deposit bonus for a month (it works out at about 27% rakeback equivalent) but unless things pick up, I reckon it'll be coming back out and I'll go back to FT.

A bit of good news, Chalfont won 1-0 against their rivals Tring Athletic to go 10 points clear of them with a game in hand. 24 points from their last 12 games will guarantee them the title! News of their 1-0 win at Dunstable was the only thing to cheer me up in Spain a week ago.

Biggest disappointment of the month (in fact for a long time) was missing out on some shares when I put in an order for £500 worth of JJB shares at 3.65p, when they were hovering just below 4p. Needless to say I didn't get matched, and two days later I check the price, £50m new share issue, and the price is at 32p. 4k profit down the drain because for the first time ever I didn't just buy at the current price. Gutted doesn't even begin to describe it :(

Whilst I think Barcelona are comically short to beat Arsenal at the current show of 1.32 (you would have to be utterly stupid to back it) the loss of Walcott, and especially Van Persie when he was playing so well does temper my enthusiasm. Fabregas will probably play even if not entirely fit, we have a chance, but it will need a great performance to make it.

To give you an indication as to just how rubbish that price is, Barcelona were 2.1 to beat Real Madrid earlier this season. With VP, Walcott, and Cesc all fit and playing I'd be having the biggest bet ever as they would certainly be a better side than RM. Even if you say (with hindsight) that the 2.1 was too high, is anyone serious suggesting that RM are 3 times as good as Arsenal? Mmm, let me think about that.. I've still got to put in a decent lay as the price should be around 1.7.

Was feeling pretty miserable at half time tonight, with Chalfont and Chelsea both losing 1-0. What a difference 45 minutes makes as both end up 2-1 winners! Chalfont are now 7 ponts clear with a game in hand with 15 matches remaining, and Arsenal now have things in their hands for the first time. I've got tickets for both Liverpool and United home games, let's hope there is a lot resting on them in a couple of months!

Am giving stars a try for this month, as well as the profit above I took the remainder of the staking money winnings as a small roll to start giving the 50/50s a try. Time will tell if I am wasting my efforts, may well be going by previous attempts on that site!

I'll give you all a wave a Camp Nou. (It was a choice between that or Dunstable...it was a tough decision, but Spain just won through ;)

To start with, to fend off the inevitable accusations of bias I'll happily admit we should have been professional enough to hold on, and that Diaby was an idiot for responsing how he did. That's got it out of the way.

Well, understandably Jack Wilshere has stopped short of saying it, so I will. Phil Dowd, you are a crook. It's not the first time you've been a disgrace in an Arsenal game (Check the stats if you don't believe me). Apparently pushing someone consistutes "violent conduct", however, throwing your arm around their neck before pulling them to the ground does not. Yeah okay. Put you along MBE (Manchester's Best Employee) Howard Webb and it's prety tough to beat.

What truly baffles me is that hardly anyone even seems to countenance the idea that officials in this country could be corrupt. I've shown various clips on fixed games in other countries, refs in Germany, Italy, Russia and Greece have been found guilty in recent years, to name but a few...but yet it's supposedly inconcievable that it could happen in good old honest England, despite an abundance of evidence to the contrary. Not 50/50 decisions, or controversial decisions which are still unclear after several replays, but ones which are blindingly obviously wrong, and ones where a 10 year old could get it right.

Where there are huge amounts of money involved, corruption is inevitable. Only a couple of days ago three Pakistani cricketers got 5 year bans, but as any regular follower will tell you (I'm not one) they've been doing it for years. And that happened in a high profile game, in this country.

So who do we look to in clearing the game up? Sepp Blatter, head of Fifa....oh shit, one of the biggest thieving crooks ever, who regularly takes bungs when it comes to important decisions like World Cup Bids or gives them out when seeking re-election. Asking him to sort the matter out would have been like getting Harold Shipman to investigate problems in care for the elderly.

We're knackered.

January review and March staking thoughts.

Slow start to the year, quite pleased with the poker, the 2nd in the $5 plo rebuy being the highlight. Which brings me on to the main point of the post.

I am thinking of giving the FT daily $10 plo rebuys a serious shot. Having withdrawn so much for the deposit on the house / mortgage I don't really have the roll to sustain a bad run, especially when each one costs $30 - $50 (if I bust early on I will rebuy, say in the first 3 levels normally) if you include the double stack to start and the add on. So could easily be $200+ for a week even if I'm out at the footy and don't play every day. I'm therefore thinking of asking maybe 10 people to put up $100 each so I could give them a decent go for at least 1 month and then review it from there. Obviously any profit after stake would be shared equally. Here are my full stats - I am not including SNGs but if anyone is interested I am slightly up on those also:

I think it's fair to say they are decent enough, and over the full course I'd be reasonably confident of coming out ahead, but time will tell. 99% of the above is plo, with a very few low stakes nlh.

All profits would just be based on these games, I suppose I could include the odd $5 freezout if I am in at the time, I usually only play one mtt at once. There would only be a tiny amount of rakeback but this would be added also! Any freerolls qualified for from previous play would not count. I may possibly try the odd sat for the main $35k plo event on Saturdays, but normally wouldn't bother as there is generally only one seat. And I could easily unregister and take the tourney dollars if I made it, thinking about it this would probably be best anyway.

I'd be interested if anyone thinks this is viable / sensible, if you have any questions / ideas to change it please let me know.

Like I mentioned, made no progress in the hilo stts this month, so wondering if the last two months were just a fluke? Very marginal profit in them, really only playing them at present for the iron man thingy and to clear the end of year bonus, but thinking of going back to the plo mtts once this is done...this one saw me finish 2nd and we almost had an even chop where I got $277, it swung back and forth. I was certainly not at my best in this tournament, made a few poor calls, guess I'm getting out of practice, which is another reason for getting back to them :D

Going to be a losing month on the sports betting baring a miracle sunday, but will be backing murray to win the tennis at an amazing price of 2.44, hopefully that will go well.

I've been concentrating on the plo8 stts again this month, and can't really get going, running very badly and getting donked continually. Not far behind, but seem to cut down when this happens :) Anyway, barely played any plo tourneys recently, but thought I'd give one more a try this morning and was glad I did. Just a small one but they all count...

Football is not going great either, I am sure that it is harder to win then it used to be as prices seem to be getting more accurate on the exchanges. Still have my pre season bets and also one on Nasri at 40/1 to be player of the year from a couple of months back, let's hope we get some money back from these. I am going to both legs of the Barca game, we should give them a footballing lesson. Bendtner > Messi imho. :D

Chalfont won another tight away game yesterday, 1-0 at Hadley in very heavy conditions. Ten points clear at the halfway stage is an excellent situation to be in, no question! The first half also saw yours truly falling flat on his back when trying to retrieve the ball from a sodden patch of grass, no doubt this will please Rosie after I mentioned yesterday that I'd be going to my local Lib Dem January dinner! The neck is still a bit sore today but no lasting damage, hopefully :)

Reasonable December to end the year: Sports Betting: £157.61. Poker: £336.41. Total profit: £494.02.

Positives:

Very few tbh! I suppose two decent months to end with not far short of half the total profit saved it from being a total disaster. November and December saw me trying the $6 turbo hilo stts seriously, with 300 / 318 played in each and 18.5% / 23.6% roi (not including rakeback) is pretty good I guess. Oh, and having my own place (albeit with a big mortgage!) is what I really wanted. Going to try to manage on my own without getting a lodger for the time being, may have to change this if it gets tough.

Negatives:

Where do you want to start?!? Worst total ever, Arsenal not coming 2nd last year costing me £7.5k on the each way acca. Awful first half of the year where I was actually up by less than £100 at the end of June! Trying to keep going on Betdaq and the lack of markets feels like banging my head against a wall.

I'm going to give a few new ideas a try, time will tell if they work out. My target for 2011 is to make at least £6k in total, it's getting tougher to make a profit from gambling full stop, but that should be achievable imo. I've made so many mistakes this year, cutting them out should do the job.

As well as moaning, I always believe in giving credit where it's due. I contacted them recently about the possibility of moving the outside connection of my VM box from the front of the flat to the back, as occasionally I can get a bit of a lag when playing poker, due to the fact that there is a long cable to my bedroom where my computer is situated. I was told that it was a standard £99 and nothing that they could do to reduce it. So I sent a polite email asking if they would be prepared to lower it as a Christmas goodwill gesture to a relatively new customer, and I hinted that I would be much more likely to resubscribe in September 2011 when my contract runs out (I'm only on a 12 month one). Other than the standard ackowledgement, I hadn't got a reply a few days later, and was just about to contact them again when I got a phone call from customer services saying that they would do it at the start of January free of charge! Really pleased with that, tbh I would have been happy to pay some fee, maybe half of the amount quoted, but fair play to them for cancelling it completely!

In complete contast, what a complete mickey mouse outfit the clowns at WH Smith are. A couple of weeks ago I ordered some note cards as a Christmas present, none in the local shop (where the staff seem to have an average age of 75 and haven't a clue) so I placed it over the phone at head office. No problem I was told, 5/7 working days and they would send them to the shop where I could pick them up. That went by and the shop didn't have them in, and had no idea when they would be. So I phoned up head office again, they hadn't been sent any by their supplier, and could not tell me when (or even if!) they would be there. And naturally, they could not even be bothered to inform me about this. How does a company like this stay in business?? I did a quick google and found another one, by luck it was their last day to send out things for Xmas, but they are based in Wales, and unfortunately did not get their order picked up by the Royal Mail on Monday due to the wintery conditions. Hopefully they will have done so today and it will be delivered to my work tomorrow.

Just made a somewhat stupid mistake, in my rush to put my food in the oven, I put the foil container on a plate instead of a baking tray, I wondered what the burning smell was :D

This has nothing to do with poker, but bear with me! Speaking of which I've had huge swings back and forth the first week of December, but we are currently up by about $50. But on to far more important matters..

As you have no doubt read, Julian Assange has been remanded in custody following a corrupt British Magistrate jailing him on no evidence after being told to do so by a corrupt Swedish prosecutor, who in turn was acting under instructions from the US despite the minor detail of him offerring to meet her via his lawyer but she refused to do so. Instead of which a European Arrest Warrant was issued on an illegal basis.

The fact that far right extremist scum in the US such as Sarah Palin have openly called for his arrest and compared him to Bin Laden shows what a valuable job his site is doing in exposing corruption, torture, collusion and wrongdoing worldwide. On a personal view I would love it if this lunatic somehow got the Republican nomination as putting her up againt Obama for President would be a bit like putting up the Red Lion Eleven against Barcelona at football, but her increaingly hysterical outbursts are only making matters worse at present. You may have noticed that wikileaks.org (the main site) has been down for a while, not a shock really as the US have ensured it is no longer functioning, but fortunately mirror sites have been springing up to take their place. This is one.

You may have also heard that Visa and Mastercard are refusing to process payments as America gets desperate. Fortunately the fightback has started! Operation Payback is underway, some freedom fighters have taken their payment system down temporarily, costing them a fortune.

As you may be aware, a few months ago I joined the Lib Dems as a new member, having voted for them all my life. Rest assured that if Mr Assange gets extradited by a corrupt court in Britain, I will be resigning from the party, as standing up for freedom and civil liberties is something that they used to be famous for. If they no longer wish to do this as part of a coalition government, what is the point in them existing? It's a bit more important than the level of tuition fees, wouldn't you say?

Seriously, it's very pleasing, especially as the footy markets seem to be getting tougher all the time! Had some luck with the Barca game as previously mentioned, but generally got my money in ahead, as they say in poker speak!

Speaking of poker, my final figures in my hilo stt November challenge were: Played 303. Won 46, 2nd 49, 3rd, 28, unplaced 180. Total staked: $1,969.50, returned $2,338.20, rakeback $45.45. So a profit of just over $400 including rakeback, with an roi of 18.7% or 21% if you include rakeback, the figures at the top are fractionally different as I only count the rakeback in those each week when I get them, but they are more or less the same.

Are these figures reallistic long term / sustainable? Not sure, I honestly don't think I've run at all well, good periods and bad periods but outdraws stil far exceed suckouts ;) Either way I will give it another shot in December. Also qualified for a Silver Freeroll, will have to see how that goes. Still trying to get used to the fact that I've paid over $150 in rake in a single month :0

What is really nice to see is that Full Tilt have finally bowed to the inevitable and allowed withdrawls in whatever currency you like, thank god for that, I don't have to mess around getting a USD bank account and paying transaction fees, or else getting ripped off on the exchange rate when I withdraw it to my bank! The rate is only very slightly different to market, I worked out that you are being charged about 0.5% premium, which I can happily live with.

Going to see Arsenal at Man United a week Monday, wonder which side turns out, hoping Vermalean will be back as we desperately need him if we are going to win the quad :D

Was reading on the forum yesterday about Nolito playing for Barca in their cup match against Ceuta, he was 5/2 to score first. I notice that he is odds on on Betfair. Easy arb, stick £100 on...oh hang on a minute, the Betfair market is only to score during the game...crap, can't lay off. Stuck with a £100 bet I had no intention of doing, you can probably guess what's coming next, he scored after two minutes to win me £250 for my stupidity and not reading the rules correctly :D

Chalfont are 4/5 to win against Rye on Saturday, whilst I wouldn't lump on, it seems reasonable to include them in any accumulators. We are taking it very seriously, rest assured ;)

Poker challenge going reasonably at the moment, touch wood, 12% roi after 10 days is around what I was hoping for.

Not the best of months, really. Couldn't seem to get anything going on the footy and the poker was a mare, it defied belief how bad I ran on hilo stts despite the awful play of others. Speaking of which, I am so convinced I can make a profit long term on these, I am going to try to play a minimum of 10 per day for the whole month and nothing else! So I will record the results of them all, and at the end of the month we will see where we are at after getting through at least 300. I could do with a challenge to motivate myself, with a bit of luck this will do...

House is going fine, but being completely skint means I will have to do better in November if we want to try and get this mortgage paid off early! If the worse comes to the worst I will have to rent out the spare room. It hasn't helped that the cunts from AOL have taken another months payment from me even after I cancelled it from my previous address (reminding me how glad I am not to be with them and the cretins in India who can barely speak English), I phoned up a couple of days ago and was promised a cheque refund with an additional £5, if I don't get it by the end of this week there will be trouble. Not wanting to pay their rip off rates with the 0845 number, I rang the freephone one for sales and asked to be put through to billing, if you have the misfortune to be with these jokers I'd do the same every single time you contact them.

Chalfont have won 15 league games from 15, and play Rye FC at Lancing in the Vase in two weeks. We are joint third favourites at 14/1, but I honestly would not back us at this price as we won't be much shorter in two or three rounds time unless lots of the fancied sides get beaten.

Car turned out to be very expensive, forgot about the MOT running out with the move and needed to get it done same day. So did this before the main service a few days later, it needed several things doing to get it through, and then a couple of things were done wrong meaning I had to take it back and get those fixed. By which time it was too late to finish the main service, so had to take it back again a couple of days later! Also, when out for a walk whilst waiting, I found a wild rabbit which had suffered an injury to its face / ears (I'm guessing it was hit by a car), so I found a cardboard box and took it to the nearby vet, whereupon I was told it had myxomatosis and it had to be put down :( :( The animal lover in me was very sad.

Poker was not going well, a seemingly endless series of outdraws when coming 2nd in hilo stts, and then it went pear shaped in a $8 sat to the plo 35K, when with only 1 seat I had a huge lead but ran into two coolers, 2nd nut straight into nut straight, 99 into AA on AK9 flop (I should really have folded but wouldn't have had much left), annoying! And I laid Man City at a ludicrous 1.61 to beat Blackpool, some appalling luck and officiating saw me do my cash. (looks like they have paid the refs as well as all the money to the players) Speaking of which, how comical to see Pratini launch an investigation into the cash for world cup votes, when he himself is one of the biggest bung taking crooks in football!

A nice start to my new place which I finally moved in a week ago, and will help make a small dent in the mortgage :)

Highlights were the 28th out of 3202 in the mini FTOP, and various extra time games which didn't go to form! Like I said previously, I am very confident I can make a minimum of £250 each month which will help pay it off a lot sooner!

Off out to the Vase game at Chalfont soon, we have had quite a good start in the league (11 wins from 11 :D) and this may be our last chance to play in it for a while, as if we get promoted we would automatically go into the Trophy, and with the best will in the world our chances of getting to Wembley in that would be pretty slim!

Would have been amusing if there was betting in running :D "Sensational" says the commentator, and so it was!

Been trying the hilo turbo stts, had a good few days but a nightmare the last two! Back to the drawing board maybe. Fared a little better in the MiniFtop PLO $10 rebuy, came 28th out of 3203 for $260 odd, really disappointing to pick up so little for that when 1st prize was $21k or so. Played very well but was totally card dead almost from start to finish.

Should be moving on Friday, waiting for a call from my solicitor to confirm. Then I can start buying stuff for the rest of the week which I have off work. Chalfont won 5-0 away at Royston to keep their iron grip on top of the South Midlands Premier (9 games, 9 wins!)Vase starts in two weeks with a visit from Newbury Town in the first round. Hopefully we can make up for two years ago and go all the way to Wembley.

My next post should hopefully be from my another address! Already signed up with Virgin Media, they will be coming to set it up the same afternoon.

Was told last week that my account was restricted to internet only.

Apparently, despite having an account with a firm for many years, and any profit being marginal (the person could not even tell me whether I have even made an overall profit!) at best, I have been awarded this status because of TWO, (yes, 2) bets which shortened in price.

1) The make up of the last Parliament, which I was told went off at 1/10 (about a week later), I backed at evens. (This was actually taking a loss overall because I misread the rules offered by another firm in another market). I pointed out that this was like restricting someone who backed Chelsea at 2/1 pre season because the last price they offered them at before they won the title on the last week being 1/10 - this pillock could not seem to grasp this concept - just kept saying "sir, it shortened from evens to 1-10"

2) £40 on a football side at 4-1 which was clearly too generous a price, they went off at 9/4.

That's it, from these examples I am apparently a professional gambler who they can not accomodate regardless of any losing bets I have had as well. It was done 3 weeks ago, supposedly, they say a letter was sent but it mysteriously never arrived. How odd!

What a complete mickey mouse outfit these jokers are. Should have their licence removed and taken up on the Trade Descriptions Act!

Speaking of these idiots, you may want to have a few quid on the following two South Midland sides in the FA Cup with them:

Tring are way overpriced at 11/2 to beat Wealdstone imo, unbeaten in the league (8 games) with some decent signings and playing well, Wealdstone struggling with only 7 points from 6. Also, it sounds daft but Oxhey Jets are quite capable of an upset at Hornchurch, I saw them recently and are far better than their (admittedly poor) results to date. 13/2 defo worth a nibble, they've won their last two including one against a decent Aylesbury United and could well have turned the corner.

Due to exchange contracts this week, so my long wait for a house should finally be over soon, fingers crossed!

Another waste of a month! :( Can't seem to get anything going, the biggest betting disappointment was when my pooch Bubbly Sparky ran in an A1, was told by text that there was a lot of early pace (he isn't normally a fast starter) and "keep bets small". So I didn't bother, you can obviously guess what comes next, he sprinted out of the traps, was well clear by the first bend, never looked back, and hacked up by three lengths to get it's best ever rating! Grr. Oh, and it was the 6/1 rank outsider, and would have traded at least double that on the exchanges as it had been out for 4 months with an injury earlier in the year. What can you do? Don't think I'm destined to win on the dogs!

Chalfont somehow managed to lose 2-1 at Burnham in the FA Cup. Am really gutted about that and I still have absolutely no idea how we are out, we utterly dominated the game and really should have won by at least 4. Missed cash for the club, hugely upsetting for me, and of course a missed potential betting coup in the later qualifying rounds :( :( A weekend which had started off so nicely with Arsenal winning at Blackburn then went completely pear shaped when Bolton failed to beat Birmingham, so went out in round 10 of the last man standing comp. Apologies to the two who had 5%, was one of those things really, when you get to that stage and all the obvious ones are gone you have to take a bit of a chance and hope for the best, I'd probably do the same again. Good luck to the 16 left, not a bit jealous (yeah, righto!)

Poker is at a bit of a crossroads for me, I can't seem to do anything right, and it's beat after beat. Obviously PLO is more swingy than holdem, but I don't think there was a single tournament which went well this month, and as a result I am playing a lot less. Once I move I may get a new account and give the dreaded double or nothings another shot! Speaking of that, my mortgage was finally approved so I should be there in about 2/3 weeks, the seller actually is moving upstairs and doing that up as well before planning to sell it also, I should have been a builder :D I met him again a few days ago, very nice chap and he readily agreed to put in a cat flap for the side door as I am intent on getting a moggy!

Was going to go to see Arsenal at Partisan Belgrade, as it would be nice to see a new club, but someone pointed out this and I've decided not to bother. Some things just aren't worth risking, sadly. Great shame, but reading the article it doesn't seem like an isolated incident, which is not even a year ago. Am still waiting for them to draw a scandinavian side!

Not the best of months again, down on the poker and a bit more up on the footy. Finally had the survey done for the flat last Friday and assuming all is well, should be moving in about 2/3 weeks (at last!). I have got a 5 year fixed rate deal of 3.99% which should pay off about £15k of the £88k total, as well as the interest. I want to pay an additional minimum monthly amount of £250 from football betting / poker which I will be amazed if I can't achieve. This will mean that when it comes to looking for a new deal at the end of this one I will only owe around £58k, and hopefully quite a bit less! And that's not even including any extra I earn from renting out the spare room, which I am very likely to do. Although I won't have much money left after all the bills each month, I will find ways to save cash, and certainly making my own sandwiches for lunch each day is high up on the list!

Chalfont have had a flying start to the season, just got back from a 6-1 league win at Oxhey Jets, which makes it 15 points from 15! FA Cup match at local rivals Burnham on Saturday, and quite frankly I can't wait....

Speaking of football betting:

I entered this last season for £10 and somehow I am still in with only 30 players left, one of which will win £20,000! How it works is that each week you have to pick one Premiership side which has to win, or else you get knocked out! You are allowed one week where you can pick them to win or draw. Once you have used the side you cannot pick them again (I assume unless every one has been used).

Effectively, my current position is worth £666.67, assuming everyone left is of the same ability (maybe, maybe not!) and has simmilar teams left (almost certain!) So I am willing to sell up to 50% of any potential win should anyone wish to take it up. 5% for £35 or 10% for £70, which is a fractional mark up, really only rounding it to the nearest £5 for convenience, I would say that bearing in mind I make a profit on football betting almost every month it would definitely be +EV for anyone wishing to stake a small amount and have a go at winning a grand or two! Please note: I am only willing to take bank transfers to my account in sterling (anyone who does online or telephone banking should be able to do this easily, or even paying into a branch of Barclays in cash failing that), I have more than enough $ in Full Tilt and don't want to be shafted on the exchange rate, and I run so badly on stars that it would be a waste of money me playing there ;) This would allow me to pay for the rest of the season's competition (they have a new one each week) and still give me a chance of winning £10K, which would suit me fine!

Yes, I know, you've been eagerly waiting for it after last season's near misses and successes! Here we go....

Premiership.

Main Bet: Arsenal to win at 7/1 (VC / Tote).

Did you honestly expect anything else? No, seriously this must be their year. With no significant losses other than Gallas and excellent additions in Chamakh and Koscielny, to say nothing of the improvements in the likes of Wilshere and Frimpong, Nasri looking really sharp, it's now or never. Yes they need an additional defender and another goalkeeper...but the price has to be taken. Fingers crossed for fewer injuries than normal!

Other markets: Sam Allardyce to be the first manager out of his position at 20/1 (Corals). The odds simply don't make sense, he's been moaning about a lack of money in recent months (more than normal!), the squad looks quite thin and a poor start could easily see him walk away. I think 6/1 would be nearer the correct odds.

Lay Man City at around 1.64 to be top 4 on the betting exchanges. A quite ludicrous price (should be around 2.5), they have been spending huge money on average players simply because they can. Very little real quality in the side, Spurs finished ahead of them on merit last season, and could do so again, as could Liverpool and possibly even Everton. You are getting 6/4 that one of them finishes ahead of them, as it is inconceivable that they can be higher than 4th. The fact that they are shorter than Arsenal is one of the biggest jokes in betting history.

Everton to win the Premiership on the handicap with a 24 start at 15/1 with Corals or Bet 365. I expect a big improvement from them this year, they finished the season well and with no European distractions and hopefully far fewer injuries can make a serious challenge for the top 6, if not higher.

Championship

A case could easily be made for about two thirds of the sides! I'm going to go with QPR at 12/1 with several firms, mainly because of their manager Neil Warnock, who, love him or hate him (I'm personally nearer the latter than the former!) knows the division inside out and what it takes to get out of it.

Other markets:

Leeds to be relegated at 12/1 (Ladbrokes / Tote). I can't understand this price other than it's a classic case of a side being priced on name only. They literally fell over the line when winning promotion on the last day of the season and in such a competitive division full of sides which will be pushing for promotion, these odds are at least double what they should be.

Crystal Palace to win the handicap +28 at 18/1 (Corals). A bit of a surprise maybe, but I expect a big improvement from a side who only stayed up on the last game of the season, with worries about their future hopefully a thing of the past and a manager in George Burley who has a lot of experience and can steady the ship. Mid table is well within their capability and it could be enough to land the bet.

League One

No prizes for originality, but Southmapton look head and shoulders above the rest at a general price of 12/5. I was planning to do them from February, they finished like a train and with decent additions and very few realistic contenders. Whilst the price is a bit of a disappointment, it would be a big shock not to see them take the title.

League Two

Main Bet: Wycombe to win at 11/1 with several firms. Almost managed to pull off the impossible and stay up last year, they have recruited well and can finish ahead of the pack.

Other markets:

Burton to win the handicap +20 at 18/1 with Bet 365. This isn't actually my bet, more of a tip from someone who knows his stuff and is expecting a strong showing from the side. I'll take the credit if it does well and he can shoulder the blame if it flops :D :D

Well, got all bar about £50 of last month's losses back, so feeling somewhat happier! Played a lot less poker, concentrated on the football trading and it paid off, as well as getting a bit of info on a couple of friendlies which was nice! When I finally move I will need this to help pay off my mortgage early, that is the plan!

Speaking of which, the flat is really dragging now, two months in. The week before last, my solicitor gave my lender all the info they needed in a phone call regarding the lease and maintainence (it has a joint share of the freehold with the upstairs flat which is good, ensuring that we only pay for anything which is needed and not pay some agency a monthly fee for next to sod all). They took it away for an entire week...before deciding that they needed it in writing. What a bunch of clowns - could they not have asked for that straight away or would that have required the ownership of a braincell? Was hoping to have moved in by now, instead the survey hasn't even been arranged (they won't do it until they have all the details) and another month plus looks likely. Just as well that the place is worth it!

Lost interest in poker for a bit to be honest, barely played any tourneys for the last few weeks. But anyway, thought I'd have another stab in between some football trading...and this was the result:

Played really well throughout, overcame some outdraws, especially from the runner up who nearly put me out on an earlier table as a result! Started heads up with about a 7-1 defecit...but polished it off pretty quickly ;) Confidence flooded back about half an hour in, odd how it suddenly happens, isn't it? Oh, and got another t-shirt for knocking out Monte Kouz, think that's 5 in total, starting to lose track!

Another bit of good news. Made a decent profit on the wsop winner market on Betdaq where there was 55 of the top players listed. Now I noticed that all of them had been backed at up to 200/1. Odd. Or maybe not. So I put up slightly better prices, and lo and behold, they all get taken, presumably by a bot who thinks that a profit is guaranteed, not realizing the minor detail that there are 7264 runners who aren't included :D :D Well the last one went out in 27th (sorry Mr Lodden!), thereby negating the need to lay off on him or tie up my cash until the final is played in November!

Football betting has seen a small rather than spectacular profit, but the trend is in the right direction as we attempt to get last month's losses back.

And finally - well done to the Arsenal fans at Barnet yesterday who displayed a huge "Fuck you Barca" banner in response to them continually tapping up and trying to unsettle Fabregas. The whole club are a complete bunch of arseholes, they are basically skint (having to take out an emergency loan and paying the players late doesn't really give off quite the same image that the media portray, does it - " Més que un club" - yeah righto - shame they can't act with any dignity or respect that they think others should!) and can't afford his true value which is a minimum of £60m, so they offer about half of it (barely more than they sold Yaya Toure for ffs!) and then get their players to try and persuade him to leave like they always do with everyone they want, even to the extent of forcing that shirt over him at the World Cup Final. I'm glad they did as it happens, as it destroyed any remote possibility of Wenger being prepared to sell him at a stroke, and showed anyone who didn't know already what a total scumbag club they really are.

Of course they are Uefa's little darlings so there is no chance of the bunch of corrupt crooks (especially Michel "pockets lined with brown envelopes" Pratini) there doing anything about it, I can confidently state that this so called "financial fair play" will be fixed and fiddled so it doesn't apply to them, can't have the biggest club missing out and costing them a fortune, can we??

Onwards and upwards...just need to get the flat sorted!

Horrendous quality of play, attrocious standard of officiating (Howard Webb that was one of the most cluelessly inept displays I have ever seen, and that is quite some achievement given that I have been watching the game for a quarter of a century), those awful f*cking vuvuzelas (clue for those morons who like to play them - if you want to make a load of noise go to a circus - they have no place at a sporting event - if I had my way I'd snap each of them in half at the entrance). Horrific "pundits" on tv, if it isn't their ludicrous "the germans are very average, none would get a place in the england side" it's their ability to get so many decisions so spectacularly wrong EVEN AFTER SEEING A REPLAY FOR CHRIST SAKE (what part of "he won the ball fairly with a perfectly timed challenge" do you not understand you retarded gimp? Or how about the crook Pratini who insists that video technology is not needed....until it affects England when of course it becomes critical that it is looked at in time for the next comp and he promises that it will.

I honestly don't know where to start. Utter nightmare from start to finish, confidence shot to pieces in both betting and poker.

Sports betting: -£634.59. Poker: -£349.96. Total: -£984.05.

All started when I lost a load on the final of the women's tennis, when Betdaq crashed and was unable to trade out. I also lost a packet on Chile, I seriously can't believe how poor they were in that Brazil game, I didn't back them in the two games they won, I did back them in the one they lost against Spain and the bent ref, every game I was going to bet on went the way I thought it would, the few selections I made nearly all lost, Serbia not beating Australia (FFS) cost me the 14/1 I got on no African side to qualify from the group, I didn't put a lay bet on England to make the semis at 6/4 as advised, etc etc etc.

Poker was not better, umpteen suckouts on an almost daily basis, numerous attempts to qualify for the wsop on ft ended in failure, my roll there has taken a huge dent and my sharkscope rating has fallen off a cliff (I haven't dared to look as to how bad it is) I even had a go this evening on Real Deal where I qualified for the €109 wsop final by winning freerolls, utterly card dead from start to finish, when I had a 5 way pot with 77 on a 744 flop, I checked the flop, put in less than a half bet on the turn, and everyone folded. Went out when raising with AA, QJx flop, the rest of my small stack went in, of course the donk had QJ suited, why wouldn't he. 59 in meant a big overlay for the one seat guaranteed, although up to the day before there were only 33.

Although I run about as well on Pokerstars as England do in the finals of major competitions, it caught my eye that there were some UK IPT Brighton sats, and I considered making a small deposit to see if I could have a go at qualifying.

Then I read more closely.

The £2,000 "Package" consists of the £1,000 + £100 buy in / entry fee, £150 cash, and the hotel. Yes, that's right, the hotel part is £750 for 4 days. What a total and utter rip off. You could comfortably get it for around a third of that (if you wanted a hotel) or less if you are happy with a B&B, so you lose a quarter of the value of the prize before even walking in the door (even supposing they don't get special discounts which I am pretty certain they do!). Am I being naive - what on earth is the point?

House is progressing slowly. As the price includes a share of the freehold, the lender wants all sorts of paperwork before they can approve a survey. Hopefully this should happen soon. I can't wait to move and ditch those c**ts from AOL, I called their helpline yesterday from my payg mobile, yep, it cost 35p per minute and my credit ran out whilst I was waiting 45 minutes on the phone. I grumbled my way to 1 months rental free, they have some nice people in their Irish centre, it's just a case of getting through to them! I have stored the freephone number for their sales department for future, if I need to ring them again, I'll just threaten to leave unless they connect me without ringing their rip off 0844 bullshit. Every other number I have found on the internet is no longer in use.

I really don't want England to win tomorrow.

I honestly don't think I could stomach seeing the current set of players win the WC. It's not just the morons in the gutter press who would make sure we read nothing else for months after, so soon after slagging them off.

The main reason is the players. In case you are wondering, it's not down to the fact there are none from Arsenal, obviously I would like Walcott to have gone but my general feelings would have been the same regardless.

Rooney - gets away with total murder when swearing at refs non stop throughout many games. If it wasn't for the fact he plays for Man United he'd miss about half of every season, and it seems that the same applies at international level also. (He only got a booking in the friendly - the ref who did so said had it been a World Cup game he would have been sent off - WTF?? If he commits an offence which merits a red card, he gets sent off you moron - what part of that are you having difficulty understanding?) And of course his ludicrous comments after the Algeria game.

Terry - If there is a bigger scumbag in the game at the moment, I'd be surprised. This money obsessed chav eptiomises everything that is wrong with society. If it's not his relatives who seem to be responsible for a decent part of the crime figures (small exaggeration maybe), his part in the Bridge affair, him pocketing cash for showing people around the training ground (It's okay because part of it apparently went to charity or something), touting his box in complete contradiction of the rules at Wembley, having a go at Capello because he dropped him as captain (if that was me he would have been sent home regardless of what it meant in the tournament), and I'm sure you can think of plenty more. If there is such a thing as karma, he'll get what's coming to him. Hopefully.

Ferdinand. Okay his injury meant he didn't make the final squad, but "Mr Forgetfull" accidentally forgot about his drug test a few years back. Yeah dream on. A professional sportsman not remembering about something like that when he had been told only a few hours earlier because he was moving house, but he had no difficulties in remembering where the shopping centre was very soon after. Got off incredibly lightly with a 9 month ban (effectively 6 months because of the close season) considering he DENIED the charge.

Gerrard. Runs Terry a fairly close 2nd. Who can forget the heart rending interviews he gave about how he abhors cheating, if he saw a team mate dive he'd have a word with them, how it has no place in the game etc. But there is the small matter of him being one of the biggest cheats football has ever seen, his deceipt is legendary. Cheat Oh, and he's a violent thug, as his brutal attack on the dj in the nightclub showed (how handy was it to have a scouse jury who were about as likely to convict him as San Marino are to win the next World Cup?)

Cole (A). I'm not being holier than thou when saying the way he acted towards Cheryl was horrible, to say nothing of his treatment of Arsenal ("I nearly swerved off the road when they only offered me £55k instead of £60k). Then slagged off the club and the fans in the gutter press after he had left. Wanker.

Lampard. Who can remember the vomit inducing quote when he was trying to get himself a collosal pay rise at Chelsea? "These are my people". How stupid does he think people are? Greed

And finally, Beckham. Like me, you may have been under the impression that he was injured, and didn't make the final 23. Someone obviously needs to tell him, as he is a permanent fixture on the subs bench. Did he take a coaching course and pass in world record time? No? Maybe he's there to take the half time oranges in?

Oh yes, it's the fact that the global marketing brand could be damaged by his non appearance in the finals, which could cost this multi multi millionnaire an extra few quid in endorsements. We couldn't possibly have that could we? FUCK OFF YOU TOSSER - YOU HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SIDE THAT IS PLAYING.

Very nerve racking at the end, when pushing 72o with 2 needed to go out :D Ran AQ into bbs 55 which left me buttons, so had to call automatically with 76 when the sb pushed, but a nice 7 on the river saw me survive ;) Felt really sorry for the poor sod who went out 19th when his QQ push fell victim to K3o, King on flop, standard :|

World Cup tips.

Poker going the worst I've ever known. Enough said!

Time to make some money another way :D

Main tip. Back Chile at 90 to win or 32 to make the final on the exchanges, a super price for a quality side which finished only a point behind Brazil in the South American Qualifiers. They have a tough draw, but the odds more than compensate for this, and you have to beat the best at some point.

Top goalscorers. Angel Di Maria (Arg) and David Silva (Spain) at around 400-500 on the exchanges. Difficult to explain either price, Di Maria is expected to make up a front 3 with Messi and Higuain, which should mean he gets plenty of chances, and simmilarly Silva scored in friendly a couple of days ago and looks a likely starter in a very attacking Spanish side.

Alternative wagers. I make England about a 16/1 chance to win, so clearly the current 8/1 is far too short, a lay at about 6/4 to make the semis looks worthwhile. I also advise an accumulator on all African sides to not qualify from the group at a combined price of about 12/1 with Skybet.

Other news. Lost my phone (again!) so having to get my old number transferred to a new one, fortunatly the last time this happpened I had the presence of mind to keep a spare sim card as well as the previous handset...

A bit of good news at last.....

Not on the gambling side, had another very disappointing month which saw me up the giddy heights of £89.84 on the poker, and a profit of £19.15 on the sport (LOL) making me +£118.99. Poker followed the rest of the year, but I played badly towards the end of the month, and a combination of running crap whilst not playing my best is a surefire combination for losses!

I had a goal at real deal poker, tbh I am quite impressed by it. All it needs are some players as their non freeroll tourneys seem to average about 4 participants :D

And I'm not saying the site is flooded with Eastern Europeans, but on my table yesterday I noticed that the 9 other players consisted of 4 from Russia, 3 from Ukraine, and 2 from Romania! Who said collusion? :D

The gambling obviously includes the ante post loss from my each way acca which would have been a 7.5k profit if Arsenal had finished one place higher, still gutted :( I also lost out on the snooker when backing O'Sullivan for what I thought was the current tournament but turned out to be the World Championship! Yes, I know, what an utter donkey I am. As I didn't really want to deposit any more money it basically tied up almost my entire bank on Betdaq, I traded some of it back but still ended up with a big loss when he went out to Selby. However, I am confident of a decent World Cup, I can't remember if I have mentioned this before and am too lazy to check back :D ,but my tip is:

BACK CHILE (Currently around 85/90 on the exchanges and about five times the price they should be, bearing in mind they finished ahead of Argentina in the South American qualifying group and only a point behind Brazil. You have been told! A tough draw, but you have to beat the best sides at some point....

Speaking of the WC, Cappello has dropped a huge clanger by not picking Walcott. Yes, I know he hasn't been in the greatest of form, but if you want an impact player to come on as sub with 20 minutes to go against a tired defence, who better to choose? Crouch / Heskey? (hysterical laughter) Oh well, it's good news in that there's one less Arsenal player to get injured! (In fact a successfull World Cup for me would be every Arsenal representative to get knocked out in the group stage and raring to go for the new season!) :D Oh and a comfortable win by Chile in the final, but that goes without saying...

Now to the good news, I saw a place on Saturday, and had an offer accepted today, which includes current contents like furniture, oven, washing machine etc :) New House It's a lovely ground floor maisonette, very spacious inside with front and rear garden, and part of the freehold shared with the upstairs flat. So there is no ground rent / maintannce to pay each month, as the only thing shared is the driveway, which just needs a bag of shingle each year. Met the owner, I could tell he was really proud of the place which he has spent a lot of effort on (he's a builder by trade), so hopefully in a month or so it will all go through, and I shall be skinty mcskint from skintsville ;) Well once I get settled in the other bedroom will be rented out and that will make a big difference. The other nice thing is that it's just a couple of minutes off the motorway, so getting to and from work each day should be nice and easy :)

Awful game, visitors take a 41st minute lead. 4th official allows only 1 minute of injury time, so they need to get a move on! Twenty seconds in, a cross from the right sees a neat conversion by a defender and the goalkeeper decides not to bother trying to save! The second half sees not a lot happen until the winner, for which the goalkeeper again seems happy to allow the ball to go in unopposed, and the defenders decide to leave bigger gaps in the area than there is in Portsmouth's bank account. After which even less happens. Everyone goes home happy.

Is the recession affecting poker?

Just happened to notice the stars £2m gtd scoop tourney, $215 entry and only (lol) 8266 in, meaning an overlay (and therefore a loss to stars) of £222,810! The late registration was kept on for an hour, but it got nowhere near the guarantee.

Now obviously this may be an exception, but generally overlays on stars are as rare as hen's teeth. It will be interesting to watch and see if this is part of a trend, if the major site is affected the rest are going to be very concerned!

I seem to be losing crucial flips for fun at present, made worse by going out 10th just before the final table two nights running! This time had huge straight wrap v two pairs, of course I hit on the turn and he filled up on the river, standard. Most important thing is that I'm playing well and another decent result will surely follow soon.

Went to the Arsenal game today, a friend of mine works for a company who has a box which was going spare for once! Really nice food, for once I actually got more than my five a day fruit portion ;) I honestly think that Diaby could be the holding midfielder that we need, as well as Song. So, decent goalkeeper. Quality central defender, and all systems go for next season. Well, that and not sufferring the usual 47 injuries would be nice :| Will be utterly delighted if all players come back from the World Cup fit, but maybe that is too much to ask! I see Chile have drifted to 80s, not sure why, but going to have to go in again I guess....

I reduced my offer by 3k on the flat due to the huge delay already mentioned, it was turned down and put back on the market at £159k, I'll be amazed if it gets taken. So it will very likely be reduced to £155k, at which point they'd take the £151k which I am now offerring! Only by then I may well have found somewhere else, so more fool them..

Oh, and a rant to finish with. Since the result of the election a couple of days ago, (really disappointed with the Lib Dem showing btw), all I have heard is the market this, the market that, must do a deal within a few days / by the time the market opens or else the market loses confidence etc etc etc. Well, quite frankly, "the market" can fuck off. If the cretins in the city are seriously going to sell everything and crash the currency in utter panic just because it takes an extra week or so to resolve everything, then they are going to look really, really stupid when things get back to normal and they are left holding crap positions because they have the nerve and spine of a jellyfish. Especialy since some of them were responsible for getting us into this financial mess in the first place! What on earth would happen to them if they had to get a proper job?

Brighton Casino and April Review.

Highlight was of course the plo win on the final day of the month. Lowlight was Arsenal failing to get a top two place and costing me £7.5k on the ew acca :( :( :(

As mentioned previously, I had a really nice invite from Paul at Profero to visit the Brighton G-Casino. As well as Carolyn, I also met some others including Albert at Gambling Exclusive. Very nice people, and it was great fun, even if ultimately unsuccessfull! I had a go at the £15 single rebuy poker tourney, and to say I was card dead would be an understatement, more like card 10 feet under and in an urn! Lost a decent pot just before the break with J8 v A3 on J983 board (yes I know, wtf?). A 3 on the river left me in push or fold mode, and my A8 suited ran into AK, which failed to survive. We left with Anthony looking like he was there for the duration, I wonder how he ended up.

I would thoroughly recommend going if you are in the area, it is really well set out with a huge area of floor space. Towards the back there is the bar area with plenty of room at the restaurant if you want a bite to eat, or of course you can ask for it to be taken to a table. Speaking of which, there is a nice variety, and it's very tasty also! There are huge numbers of slot machines and electronic roulette games, then at the other side you have the manual roulette tables, and past them is the seperate poker area, both cash and tournament tables seem to be regularly in use. There are also various forms of entertainment advertised at the entrance, I noticed an Elvis theme night amongst others! I very much hope to go back again sometime!

The single, solitary queen left in the pack and bingo, out she pops. It's been like this for 2010. I keep saying it can't go on, I keep saying, it's impossible for the donks to continually hit. But it has. And they do.

Oh, and arsenal have fucked up my bet by botching up their chance of coming top two and getting me £7.5k from the ante post wager. I backed Soap at 250-1 for the Irish Open and also at 70/1 for sole survivor, in which he comes 7th after being outdrawn with KK v 1010.

The flat still hasn't been sorted yet. The delay in extending the lease is becoming ridiculous. I've send an email to my solicitor stating that the seller has cost me £600-£700 in additional rent by meaning I have to stay where I am since the expected date of end Feb which is more than enough time for them to have got their arse in gear, to say nothing of virtually having to put my life on hold since! So if they don't agree to pay the ground rent and monthly service charge for the year to compensate, the deals off.

Well, if anyone needs any doubt that it is widespread, they only need to take a look at the following:

Fixed game

Ever so slightly offside goal, and the penalty was "questionable", don't you think?

Just for info, the 1-1 draw price was 6/4 pre kick off (backed as low as evens). In a normal game, it would have been about 5 or 6-1. That in itself would make what was to happen pretty obvious, however, following the first goal, the draw was priced at 4/6. So the market knew an equalizer was not just likely, but a certainty. In a normal game, those odds on a match finishing level when a team is 1 up would never happen. This wasn't some mickey mouse match watched by two men and his dog, it was a top flight Italian game for goodness sake, live on tv!

Oh, and let's not forget this only 4 years ago. Doesn't seem to have had much effect does it lol?

As someone who has watched football for well over 20 years, it saddens me that it has now become so blatant. What is concerning me even more is that it seems to be systamatic in the English game also. So many clearly ludicrous decisions, the officials and the FA are clearly in on it also. Gerrard elbows a player, then swears at the ref, what is done? Nothing. Vermalean gets sent off for a challenge which wasn't even a foul. What happens? Decision upheld. Linesman right in line with the players in the Hull v Arsenal game, Hull player several yards offside, he fails to notice.

You'd have to either believe that the officials are so utterly clueless that they shouldn't be involved at a Sunday game, or they are completely corrupt. Well, I'm going for the latter.

You may also be interested to know that some years back, I went to see a CL game which I recorded. Whilst at the game, I thought the standard of decisions made when judging offsides was the worst I'd ever witnessed at any level, including Chalfont games (for both sides). I got back, and found the error rate was something like 13/22, over 60%! Some were a couple of yards, some were 5 yards, and a few were 10 yards+. Wtf??? This is supposedly at the highest level of Club football?

Just so it doesn't look like I'm biased, what about the Chelsea v Inter game a week back? Now you won't be amazed to know I dislike Chelsea, but the penalty that they were denied. Jesus. The defender didn't just grab hold of the attacker, he spun him around before throwing him to the ground in the sort of move you'd see in wrestling. Yet the officials failed to notice. Incredible eh? I think not.

Still struggling, keep getting to the last 20/30 in plo mtts and either going card dead or outdrawn. Happy with how I'm playing in the main, don't think it will be long before I have a decent win again. Still trying to find the right formula for rush poker, think my hyper aggressive mode has gone a bit too far ;)

Flat just about gone through, but it may be delayed a bit longer as I've spotted a much better mortgage deal then the one I applied for two months or so ago. Lifetime tracker at 1.89% over base rate with £499 fee, I highly doubt whether there is anything better than that,(please feel free to say if you know better!) so will apply tomorrow!

Chalfont still top of the league and are playing very well, just got to keep winning and the title beckons! Funnily enough, I shall be going back to the only team to beat us for the last 3 months next Saturday, as they have a £10 rebuy poker tournament and it's high time I played live again!

Sports Betting: -£85.19. Poker-£40.25. Total-£125.44.

Not pretty :( If I made a list of my horrific outdraws for the month, you'd need to take a few days off work to read them all. I would not have believed them myself without seeing them. I know a lot of people have poker tracker and the like to rate how far above or below EV they really are (I suspect this is more relevant for cash?) but I'm glad I don't, I suspect this would only make me feel worse if my tournament results were displayed! Tbh, I actually feel that I've played as well as if not better than all the months when I won $1,000+, which makes it all the more depressing :( My last attempt to get the month back level just failed when I came 14th of 300+ in the $6500 gtd when my nut flush draw failed to hit, unlike the dozens of opponents which did without difficulty in previous weeks. Interesting to note that the final prize pool in this $10 plo rebuy was almost $13K, it seems to get higher each week (especially on Sundays it seems) so will have to play it more often I guess, although it can get expensive, with a rebuy at the start and an add on, it's a minimum $30 and $50+ if you get donked early and decide to have another go!

I still feel I have a massive edge in any low stakes plo tourney I play in, even if the results this month suggest otherwise. Got to keep plugging away I guess. I've even considered approaching one of the staking sites and asking them to give me a try at the higher ones. Will have to give that some more thought I suppose.

The hilo ones haven't exactly been a great success, I may try the odd one still. Am playing the occasional hand or two of Rush Poker, still not sure whether I like it or not!

The odd thing is that I'm actually better off £ wise than at the start of the month due to my $ balance on FT, but I guess it's cheating to count the plummeting value of the currency as a profit ;)

The sports betting has been even worse, less said the better. Every time I decide not to do a bet, it wins without question! But the small chance of me winning 500k with my Arsenal / West Brom / Norwich / Bournemouth divisional accumulator is still (just about) alive! Gavin, could you kindly tell your mob to win the FA Cup, as I am currently over £1,000 green on Betdaq with them ;)

Still waiting for the final date for moving into my flat. Wish it would hurry up! I will need to get one or two things, most notably a freezer.

Every fecking tournament, runner runners, dominated hands, small flush draws when I have several of the opponent's outs, 2 outers, you name it, I've been screwed by it. Am guessing I should be miles up in tourneys this year, instead, barely breaking even. This is the latest.

I noticed the double guarantee week on FT was somewhat spoilt by them extending the late registration period from 10 mins to 1 hour, thus killing most or all of the overlays! However, fortunately this does not seem to occur in these rebuys, so the last 3 nights it's been about $2k to $3k added, I wish I'd noticed earlier in the week! Cashed in all 3 of them, but should have been more on each occasion.

Still plugging away at the hilo, was doing well in that tonight but done by a calling station donk who for some reason couldn't work out how far he was behind :(

But not far off it, I feel my form is returning ;) Played very well from start to finish, my aces held up throughout (just checked the date, not April 1st!), got horrendously outdrawn 3 handed when dominating a shortstack, which meant I had a near 2/1 defecit heads up. Super aggressive dane meant it was going to be a very short one, and so it proved! It all went in with overpair and gutshot v two pair and straight wrap for almost the entire stack, sadly I couldn't get the outdraw I needed. Never mind, $474 means the Porto trip is paid for :) Funniest part was being called a donk when I reraised him for about 60% of my stack with AAxx single suited, then called his all in for the remainder when he had something like 78910, he had a few straight draws which missed. I then pretended to compare stats, he then kept calling me a donk. Suffice to say he went out a few minutes later, when even a complete numpty could have worked out they were miles behind :D

Still waiting for a 1st place this year, but not for much longer hopefully :)

A few days ago I ended up with a lunch that proved to be more expensive than intended!

Sandwich van never turned up due to the weather, so drove to nearby pub at lunchtime. Got out, walked a couple of hundred yards.....and went over on a lovely patch of ice, landing on my arm (still got a collossal bruise 2 days later, but I guess it could have been broken!), and breaking my mobile phone. It still works, but part of the display is cracked so I have to get a new one. Most embarrasing part was a little old lady on the other side of the road asking if I was okay, it's normal for it to be the other way round :D

I tried my first ever plo8 tourney yesterday, came 18th despite not knowing what I was doing (no change there I hear you say ;) ) I will do a little more reading on that now and see if I can work out what are decent starting hands....

Oh, and another moan, I thought I was due a $175 end of year bonus for my Iron Man record. Got an email saying I have to play a load to clear it. What a con. No mention of that whatsoever during the time played. Not a happy bunny at all. Almost as big a joke as Portsmouth's "flexible" approaches to payments....

An extremely mixed year, the worst thing was of course Chalfont's penalty shootout semi final defeat in the Vase. Worst day of my life, the pain of it will never go. Anyone who is a football fan will have some indication of how I feel still. The 11k+ I would have won had they won the final was of secondary imporance to the joy of seeing a village team at Wembley who I had supported for over 20 years.

Another disappoinment was my final profit total (just over half the £12k target), my giving betfair the heave-ho has left me reliant on Betdaq, and the lack of markets is proving annoying. Still, that means I have to concentrate more on the poker!

On to the postive, since I moved to Full Tilt in early July, I made the decision to mainly concentrate on PLO tourneys, and this proved to be wise! I have found that I am a barely break even cash player, so no point wasting my time with it. I ended the year slightly $5k up on FT, just about every penny was on PLO MTTs, it's a total no brainer to continue on that alone. I was speaking to someone who says the highest Sharkscope rating low stakes players can get is the low 80s, so to end the year on 79(was 80 earlier today, meh.) with an roi of 102% is very nice. I know I can keep this up as I honestly feel I have run super bad the last couple of months! It's good to feel I have a decent edge in any tourney I play in.

Just had a thought. I made fractionally under £7k with my RBS shares after buying some on the advice of a work colleague. Can we count that in the above figures? Sod it, my blog, my rules. Total profit: Approx £13,500.00. Target achieved :P

Aims for 2010. Well, as mentioned I will be moving to my first ever flat in two weeks or so, where the joy of an 80k mortgage will await! Once I settle in for the first month or so, I will rent out the other room so my outgoings will be more or less the same. Until then I will be a bit skint! I aim to win 6k from gambling in 2010, and with the 2k paid off the capital automatically on top of the interest, this will get rid of about 1/8 of it with a bit of luck! It's a bit scary to be honest! I will also aim to get out more, and (whisper it quietly) try and find a girlfriend! I ended up keeping my job despite the merger next year, but tbh it is not very well paid and I may shortly look for something else anyway once things settle down.

I did mention a few posts ago about having a go at finnancial trading, shares, currencys, stocks etc. I still plan to do this once I am at my new place.

Arsenal to win the title and the Champions League will be nice, although to be fair I don't feel I have much control over this, other then cheering them on in Porto! I will try and rustle up the cash to go to this game. I have already been there a couple of years back, but in an important game like that I will make the effort to go to again.

Now for a New Year resolution.

I make myself a 100-1 chance to achieve the following, but having said that I like backing big price odds, so here goes....

I will not abuse a single player on Full Tilt. Yep, you heard that correctly. Any donkey who outdraws me will get a suitably apt and witty response that does not involve any naughty words (I got my first ever chat warning and don't plan to get another!) or hunting them down, wondering about their mental falculties or simmilar. I'm not particularly proud of some things I said tbh. Only a game of cards at the end of the day.

PS, the above does not apply to slow rollers to whom no form of punishment would be sufficient ;)

I'm playing the best I've ever played by a mile, (I even qualified for the 35k gtd plo deepstack - $216 entry - earlier on by coming top 4 in a 36 runner qualifier, I unregistered and took the T$, but I will play in it sooner rather than later!), and it is really getting on my nerves when this crap keeps happening :( :( :(

Got two plo books for Xmas, one by Jeff Hwang and the other by Rolf Slotboom. After about 6-7 weeks of running super bad and barely breaking even, we have finally got back on track in my favourite comp for just a smidgen short of $500 :x :x If it wasn't for this particular tourney, my profits on FT would be miles lower lol. Felt very confident from about 20 out, was playing really well and hitting hands at the right time, which of course helped! With about 8 left I lost most of my stack when raising with AA5x pre, flop 765, unfortunately opponent had 7654 and I was almost drawing dead when I put the rest in. However, I was confident I could get them back and I did! Again, I was hitting quite a few hands, it probably looked like I was stealing when I was betting almost every flop, but I hardly ever got looked up, and when I did, I was in front! Knocked out one Finn in 3rd with trips + wrap v two pair and straight draw, and the other one soon followed in a rather one sided heads up contest! :D I didn't even bother offering a deal as I had my landlady's computer on in case of problems, my new one is finally set up (thanks to mate in IT department at work!) but the wireless keyboard and mouse don't seem to be picked up. Probably something very simple that I missed, I'll ask him today.

Have agreed on 154k for flat, will move in during January and rent out the other room to make sure my financial position is not too different to what it is now!

Just went out 800th odd with 416 through in the 6th round of the PCA, down to just under 12bbs and jammed AK from mid, right into AA, standard. What was annoying was that I folded 88 earlier to a raise for about 1/10 of my stack, 3 callers, AQ8 flop, all in from AK, called by A10. Grrrrrr!

Still running very poorly on FT, a 3rd in my favourite $5 plo rebuy for $285 + change last night stemming the flow. Ran into a cooler 3 handed which I couldn't escape from. So so annoying to keep getting outdrawn when you know that you have such a decent edge in these tourneys, but watching some muppet river a flush or straight with no odds. Lost in the 10k freeroll when I got mini reraised holding JJ, flop came 10 high, other person instajammed for way more than the pot, it smelt strongly of AK, I snap called. So it was, needless to say the river was an A.

Sports betting is not going a lot better, other than winning a few quid from Spurs capitulation to Everton last week. I keep going for accas and missing out by 1 or 2, what is frustrating is that just about every time I pick an underdog on the Asian Handicap I am getting these spot on, particularly in the Champions League. So no more greed, it's going to be maximum trebles only, and probably mainly singles and doubles, greed is proving my undoing! I doubt I will be able to resist lumping on Arsenal at over 5/2 to beat Liverpool tomorrow, although I am licking my wounds after the Olympiakos match, I still can't believe I lost money there in a game they should have won by 3 or 4 :( :( :(

Happier news is that I finally found a place in Langley and agreed on a price of 154k, sadly baring a miracle I will have to pay an extra 1.5k in stamp duty as there seems no way it will go through in time for the end of the year :( On the bright side it is currently vacant, and part of the price includes cooker, washing machine, and furniture including a double bed! Just need a new mattress. And get in an extra bed so I can rent out the spare room, otherwise I will be more than a tad out of pocket! Supermodels may start applying now ;)

At least I can then get a decent ISP and sign up with an i-poker site again. Although once I get myself sorted I plan to play a lot more live. Any of you who are passing nearby, let me know, you are more than welcome to pop in and say hi :)

What a waste of a month, truely horrific on the poker, and worse yet on the sports! I surely cannot have another plo month like the last one, the succession of outdraws were truely ridiculous. I am starting to lose my temper far too often, and it doesn't help. In fact I am making an early New Years resolution to not abuse a single player for next year! So I will have to make the most of it until then ;)

Am planning to try some financial betting next year on markets, shares, currencies etc. Considering I have made profits consistently on the betting exchanges for years I feel I should be able to do this. Time will tell. At the same time I will give up cash poker, it's clear I am not cut out for this.

Looking at 3 more places in Langley tomorrow, all in the same road with the same company. May take the plunge and pick one, will see how it goes.

I have ordered a new computer today, splashed out £515 quid! Well, it had to be done, the current one is on it's way out. Maybe it will mean a change in my fortunes.

Well, the fact I haven't posted for three weeks may give a clue as to how I'm doing... ;) Just can't win for toffee atm, suffering from ridiculous outdraws by total donks, and my sharkscope rating has fallen off the proverbial cliff. In fact tonight's loss was one of the rare ones when I was behind, 99 v KK on K96 board for 40k+ pot about 40 out...I even thought about folding when he jammed, but sadly I called :( I have folded 2nd sets before and maybe I should have done here.

Still haven't found a place yet, but going to visit one in Langley tomorrow which is literally a few yards away from the one I saw 3 weeks ago! Has a very short lease, but can extend it for about the same overall cost of the previous one. I shan't hang around either this time if I like it! It has a garden and garage also. So fingers crossed!

Very happy with how I played, I kept calm when the big stacked nutters were being nutty ;) and was quite happy to virtually chop it hu $500 - $505 + change. Am super confident at the moment, my 4th a few hours earlier could very easily have been a win if I didnt get rivered for a huge pot when my straight ran into a set on the turn which filled up on the river :( Still, I feel like I stand a decent chance of getting a good result every time I play these omaha tourneys, let's hope it stays that way and my sharkscope continues to scare opponents ;) You may even see a PLHA mentioned, this was my second ever, it is combined PLO and PLH, I messed it up sadly, should have done much better than 8th :(

As mentioned previously, I am bust on stars and have no intention of redepositing! However...I am through to round 4 of the PCA using my fpps, 5 more wins and it's a nice trip to the carribean in January :D

Well it should have been last week, as I had my opponent down to 4bbs heads up in this very tournament before my computer / connection went kaput. It was one of the most one sided hu contests in history, I was hitting hand after hand but my opponent kept folding, I was thinking he must come over the top eventually, sadly not and I paid the price when I couldnt get my desktop working for 40 mins :( Goodbye $227.33, lucky dane took first!

This one was different though, despite being shortstacked most of the second half of the tourney I picked up the odd decent hand which held up, bluffed in the right spots, folded in the right spots, and, odd though it may sound, I barely made a mistake! When we were 3 handed we did a deal for $350 each and played on for the win, hu I was about 3-1 down, but soon got it back :D

My stars roll is just about gone, sick run on the d2ns, but hey ho. Never liked the site anyway, probably +EV long term to stop me wasting my time there!

It's bizarre, when I get to the last 20 or 30 of this tourney, I seem to get a surge of confidence that I have a good chance of wining baring any outdraws or stupid play (yes, I still make the odd donkey move, you'd think I would have learnt by now!) Hope that doesn't sound boastfull, it's not meant to, I honestly believe in myself a lot more than I used to, maybe it's the fact that I've been there for 3 months and am starting to get to know the other players?

Anyway, I will no doubt run super badly now that I've just posted that, and will be forced to delete it to uncurse myself. So if it disappears, you'll know why ;)

Other stuff, still trying to find somewhere to live, so need to keep winning this to boost my deposit, as well as having extra money in case I lose my job when my company merges in January! When I withdrew some previous winnings I got ripped off by Barclays on the exchange rate, have put in a complaint and if I don't get the remainder, I will get a new bank account.

The figures may not look too bad, but I have been running horrendously all month. I could write a book of how many times I have got it in pre with AAxx at plo, only to lose to some clown who thinks it is fine to commit a large part of his stack with the likes of J922 etc. As a result my tournaments have been a disaster, even when you commit most of your stack with decent aces, there is not a lot you can do when you get 4 callers, you are almost guaranteed to lose. I tried to spin up my last few quid on my hills account with minor success, I profited by £200 on a policy of just trying to get it as far as I could and withdrawing bits here and there. I played quite a bit of $1/$2 plo, finally losing a $250 odd pot being rivered with the dreaded AAxx which I had got in pre, what else can you do? :( As said before, I hate the site and the fact that they've done sod all about the problems with aol. So I have deleted the software.

Not great news on the sports betting, I tried betting on cricket and tennis, which I know next to sod all about :D, so I deservedly lost my bank on Betdaq and have had to redeposit, this hasn't happened in yonks!

I sold my remaining RBS shares at approx 56.7p a couple of weeks ago, and ever since then they have plummetted! (word obviously got out :D) So my timing hasn't been lost totally lol, and the money will come in handy when I eventually find a place of my own (still looking!)If they go back down to their previous price of 12p it would be much appreciated, I can then buy them back again ;)

Going up to Duffs on Sunday for a semi freezeout holdem and plo tourney, should be fun!, or at least it will be for other participants now it is has added value :D

Despite my moaning, when you look at what has happened here (My sincere condolences, Kris) and here, I need to remember that at the end of the day, it is only a game of cards....

Nightmare run over at last......

Well, the last 4 weeks have been utterly horrendous, I seriously didn't think it was possible to run so badly! Cash bonuses, promotions and the occasional final table have kept me about level, but if I had one of those fancy tournament equity calculation thingys I am guessing I would be down something like 1-2k, best of which was a few days ago when all in pre with AAKx v KKAx for huge pot with 12 left, of course the remaining king appeared on the flop to send me packing a couple of hands later :( I know plo tournaments are much more swingy than holdem ones, but it has honestly left my monitor in danger of landing in the nearby river!

Was happy to deal for $487 heads up, I had a fair lead, but looking at my opponent's stats it was probably the right decision! According to the auto calculation I was entitled to $491, so quite happy with that. I played pretty well too and made some big laydowns which shows I am learning at last ;)

Delighted with that after only two months on the site, and you may be interested to know that my opponent complimented me on my play and offered to coach me! I will say hello to him on 2+2, but doubt I could really afford it tbh! Offer appreciated though. In return, I think it's only fair to give satfat a mention here, and put our records side by side ;) It is certainly very pleasing to note that I have the same rating as one of the top low stakes players on the site...

Decent month for August: Sports Betting: +£175.64. Poker: +£1,038.43.

Very pleasing, despite running badly last two weeks at poker it's been one of my best ever months. Highlight of course was the first in the 4k.

As you are doubtless aware, Eduardo was banned for two matches by the corrupt clowns at Uefa. Deciding to ignore and invent their own rules, not bothering getting evidence from the referee who was supposedly conned (who re-iterated his decision the following day) they decided on a farcical witch hunt against one player for reasons only known to them. Actually, scrap that last point, it is obviously down to the english hating Pratini. It must be really rile the cunt that the champions league is dominated by sides from this country.

Anyone remember them fining Vieira when he complained about them failing to do anything about the racist chanting at games a few years ago? I do. So as well as being a bunch of crooks, they are racist as well.

So I sent them the following email:

Dear Sir / Madam,

Could you confirm that your decision to charge Eduardo was taken in direct contravention of your own Article 20 (1) which states the following:

"Decisions made by the referee on the field of play are final and may not be reviewed by Uefa's disciplinary bodies"

Why have you suddenly decided to blatantly ignore one of your own rules to pick on one player?

Could you explain how an offence which is punishable by a yellow card according to the laws of the game is suddenly given a two match ban?

And, if you are now deciding to use video evidence retrospectively, could you give me your assurance that you will charge Lionel Messi of Barcelona, who clearly headbutted Shakhtar Donetsk player Srna in last Friday's Super Cup game? As clearly this is far more serious offence than a dive due to the fact it can cause serious injury to an opposing player!

I welcome your comments on the above as a matter of urgency.

Well I'm glad they clairfied their position. Come on Arsenal, grow some balls, issue a statement saying that the decision was a joke, they had no legal right to charge him under their own rules, the referee was not even called a witness, and accordingly you do not accept or recognize the decision, and therefore he will be available for selection as normal for the next game. And that if they try to take action against the club as a result, you'll sue them for every penny they've got.

Good month on the poker in July, will update the figures when I get back home this afternoon ;)

Spent the weekend in Portsmouth, made several visits to Duffs, somehow fluked a 3rd in the £50 freezeout last night, only 16 runners, but good enough to pay for yesterday's £100. Beaten by eventual winner Soap with A6 v KQ suited, but I was mega short anyway, so he's excused. As I write he's on the final table at the moment, hope he doesn't use all the good form up before the English Open ;)

Just as well I paid for the main event really, as I lasted all of two hands. Called a re-raise from Mavis with 10s, flop Q10x. Money in on turn, he had KK, thought my 5k bet was "making a move". Hmm, he pushed, I called my remaining 2.5k odd, river K, lovely 2 outer, gg, not even a wooden spoon prize. :( Quickest £110 I've ever gone through apart from the call girl, but enough of that ;)

Very nice set up, good dealers, decent food, just a pity I couldn't have done a bit better in the main event, hey ho! Met a lot of nice people from the forum, including Rachael, Kev, Soap, Rob, Tank, Danse, Snap, Mavis, and Ben. Probably others also, bit of a blurr.

Another near miss in a Full Tilt plo......

Well, the good plo mtt run continues, I have had 8 top ten finishes in just over two weeks, so gotta be happy with that. This one was 5th for $409 in a rebuy. Have to say, I know I can play better than I am, I still have to erradicate the stupid errors that have an annoying way of sneaking in from time to time! Having said that, it is shaping up to be one of my best ever months, and that's after doing sod all for the first 10 days or so!

What is also nice to know is that one of them was in a $55 tourney on stars, when, in a fit of madness I threw my normal brm out of the window (fortunately I rent a room on the ground floor so it didn't have far to go ;) ) and thought it would be over in two hours or so as there were only just over 100 in....erm, nope, started at 11.30pm and went out 6th at 3.45am, could barely keep my eyes open ;) I think the final table bubble was about half an hour! It was nice to have a change at a significantly higher buy in than my normal $5 or $10 and not look hopelessly out of my depth ;)

Still hunting for a flat, may have some news about that this week.....

Firstly if this comes out wrong, it's due to the fact that my computer went pear shaped, one of my user accounts was corrupted, so having to use the other with very little information in, lots of records, information, icons etc gone, everything looks different and I'm far from a techy!

Apologies for the lack of updates, was getting frustrated by a horrendous run on stars, which ended in me getting a new account with Full Tilt about 10 days ago. And I'm glad I did, the promotions are excellent, as they are celebrating their 5th birthday. A couple of sixth places in the plo tourneys helped also, as did a qualification for the 750k, even if I hastilly unregistered and took the tourney dollars ;) Confidence is gradually being restored!

Really looking forward to going to Duffs Full House and meeting some others on the poker forum, will make a change from the online game!

Sorry for the brief post, hopefully by the time the next one comes along I will have sorted the computer out...
